A global packaging firm has appointed Towers Watson as scheme actuary to its pension plan.

The trustee of the Rexam pension plan, which is worth £1.8bn, has made the appointment following a competitive tender process.

Colin Singer, a senior actuary at Towers Watson, will manage the account.  The scheme has around 23,000 members and is sponsored by Rexam, a leading global consumer packaging company.

John Ball, head of Towers Watson's UK pension practice, said: "We are delighted that the Rexam pension plan has appointed us in this role and very much look forward to building a long-term and mutually fulfilling professional relationship."

Graham Parrott, chairman of Rexam Pension Trustees Limited, the plan's trustee said: "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Towers Watson as scheme actuary to our pension plan. We found their style to be compatible with the Trustee and very much look forward to working with them in the future."
