FAQs for Professional Contact Data Published in Pension Funds Online

These FAQs relate to professional contact data appearing in Pension Funds Online subscription tool (PFO), Pension Funds and their Advisers (The Blue Book) and International Pension Funds and their Advisers (The Red Book)

What is Wilmington Publishing and Information’s (WPI) basis for processing pension fund professional contact data?

We hold and process data under the legal basis of ‘legitimate interest’ based on the nature of the services and communications that we provide to pension professionals, either from ourselves or via carefully selected industry partners.

Why am I on your database?

We have obtained your data from pension fund or company accounts, Companies House or through telephone or primary source desk research. Our database covers the most influential individuals in pension funds who have either been self-declared, peer-nominated or identified as one whose role is as a key decision-maker.

The driver of our products is to provide transparency and highly relevant information in the area of pension fund management, and for the past 35 years our products have grown vital to pension fund managers and other members of the wider pension fund community to benchmark the performance of their pension funds and to obtain necessary advice and services from relevant adviser companies.

Should you require specific details of how and when your information was collected please contact our data validation team on 020 7549 2577 or email Neil.Blain@Wilmingtonplc.com

But I’ve never heard of Wilmington Publishing & Information Ltd (WPI)

Pension Funds Online, Pension Funds and their Advisers (The Blue Book) and International Pension Funds and their Advisers (The Red Book) are published by WPI. WPI is a trusted provider of high quality data, insight services and events in the charity, business and pensions markets. We will only contact you with highly relevant information related to our pensions products.

What will my professional details be used for?

Your details are included in our products to help pension funds and their professional advisers work together to ultimately improve the financial performance of the pension fund.

WPI reviews any potential new client to PFO to ensure that their services are highly relevant to pension funds. We will never knowingly allow for your professional contact information to be used for anything other than relevant pension fund related services or communications. Personal information may be used by a select group of relevant organisations who work in or closely with pension funds, namely:

1. Individuals at pension funds such as pension fund managers who want to benchmark their performance and identify new advisers to work with;
2. Professional advisers to pension funds, including analysts and business development managers at investment managers, investment consultants, auditors, pension administrators, fiduciary managers and actuaries who subscribe to our products. These advisers use our services to access historic trends, benchmark financial performance and identify the individuals responsible at the fund to enable them to better service funds and offer relevant products and services that aim to improve their performance; and
3. Service providers such as media providers who wish to send you highly relevant pension fund related content

Can I opt out?

The aim of Pension Funds Online and the Blue and Red books is to provide transparency on the financial performance and management of pension funds. We only process limited personal data on people in their professional roles, and in some circumstances we may continue to publish contacts who have financial responsibility and are available in the public domain. Please contact the Managing Editor at neil.blain@wilmingtonplc.com if you wish to opt out.

How will my information be kept?

Your data is held in a secure database in the UK with restricted access. We ensure the protection of the confidentiality, integrity and security of all data provided to us. No information will be disclosed if it is the view of the company that to do so would be a breach of data protection laws. Our research partners, based in Brighton, UK and Mumbai, India also have access to the data but have agreements with Wilmington Publishing & Information Ltd to work within UK data protection laws.
