BASF, the world's leading chemical company, has appointed employee benefit communication company SHILLING Communication to help increase member engagement and education of members across their UK-based pension schemes.

BASF's pension schemes have 12,000 members, including pensioners, deferred members and actives spread over 18 sites across the country.

Katie Frost, director at SHILLING Communication, said: "Educating employees about pensions, in a way that is bespoke and personal to their circumstances, is vital if the country is to prevent individuals from having insufficient savings to be able to retire."

"The UK BASF pensions department are already very forward thinking in their communication approach and are dedicated to helping members understand their role in pension planning. It goes without saying that we are thrilled to have been appointed and look forward to working with the team."

Lynne Rawcliffe, pension manager at BASF UK, said SHILLING had been chosen due to their ability to "demonstrate flexibility in their communication offering" and said BASF was attracted to the "creative and dynamic approach of the company".
