Bath and North East Somerset Council has appointed Unigestion to manage a £165m mandate for the Avon Pension Fund.

The mandate for Avon Pension Fund will be managed under Unigestion's emerging markets equity strategy.

Tony Bartlett, Bath and North East Somerset Council head of business, said: "Unigestion has a strong track record of delivering returns and controlling downside risk exposure.

"They are relentless at undertaking research to ensure the evolution of their investment processes. In particular, the extensive qualitative analysis undertaken by Unigestion and their qualitative models, in combination with their forward looking analysis of risks, were key in our selection decision."

Unigestion's institutional client team director in London Michel Bernard, said: "This appointment reflects the significant institutional demand for strategies providing exposure to emerging markets equity while limiting the impacts of the volatility inherent to this segment."
