The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) has appointed two new non-executive board members.

Alan Jenkins and Tom Joy have been selected to join the board, and they started their three-year term on 7 August 2013.

They replace Ann Berresford and Tony Holland, who stepped down from the PPF board on 31 July this year.

PPF chairman Lady Barbara Judge said: "I am very pleased to welcome Jenkins and Joy as members of our board. We are directly protecting 182,000 members, we are expanding our operations by bringing member administration in-house by 2014 and have £15 billion of assets under management.

"Both Jenkins and Joy join us at an important time in our development. Their combined experience will help us in continuing to provide security to our members now and in the future."

Jenkins played a "pivotal role" in establishing Eversheds, where he was chairman of the board between 2004 and 2010, and currently holds a number of non-executive appointments, including the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Joy has held a variety of different roles at Schroders, and was the chief investment officer at RMB Asset Management. He is currently director of investments at the Church Commissioners for England.
