F&C Investments has hired two senior members to its now eight-strong emerging markets debt (EMD) team.

Julio Obeso joins as a senior analyst and Nicholas Sauer, an F&C employee since 2011, has relocated from the Amsterdam office to join the London-based EMD team as a product specialist.

Julio joins F&C from H2O Asset Management, a global macro and fixed income fund in London.

He started his career in 1999 in the Latin American and Caribbean region team of Charles Schwab & Co.

In 2005, he joined MacKay Shields LLC; a subsidiary of New York Life Investment Management, as an emerging markets credit analyst within the global fixed income group.

Julio Obeso holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Nicholas was previously a client manager, handling relationships across institutional clients, including insurance companies and pension funds in the Netherlands.

He passed all three CFA examinations and has a Master in Finance and Investments from the Rotterdam School of Management.

Julio is responsible for covering certain emerging market sovereigns and corporates in Latam and EMEA, while Nicholas will drive growth in EMD assets across BMO's global distribution platform. Both report directly to Jonathan Mann, Head of EMD at F&C.

Diliana Deltcheva who covered EMEA sovereigns is leaving the team at the end of February to pursue other opportunities.

A recruitment process to replace her is underway.

Jonathan Mann, head of emerging market debt at F&C said: "We are excited to be adding the expertise of these two hires to our emerging markets debt team.

"Julio is a very capable emerging market credit analyst with over a decade of market experience, and should make an immediate contribution to investment performance.

"Nicholas' client handling skills will also contribute significantly to the team's continued success."
